Automatic Transfer Switches

Most industries who utilize an Emergency Generator Backup System, will usually have at least one Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS). The ATS has a critical function to monitor and transfer power. Usually, the generator is serviced on a regular basis. But ATS service is easily missed, even though the ATS has a major function.

The ATS is constantly working, monitoring Normal and Emergency Power and connecting loads to the appropriate source. If the ATS were to fail, Generator Power and/or Normal Power may not be connected. Even if the Generator is ready to accept facility loads, failure of the ATS could prevent the generator from getting online.

Just like the Generator, the ATS requires periodic Cleaning, Lubrication, Adjustments and Calibration. Most ATS manufacturers recommend a maintenance schedule of at least once a year. Maintenance Schedule cycles can increase or decrease depending on load requirements and service duty cycle.

QPT provides service to all makes of ATS’s, including ASCO, GE Zenith and Russelectric Automatic Transfer Systems. QPT is an Authorized Service Center for GE Zenith Controls.

  QPT's comprehensive service program will:

1)  Minimize costly breakdowns.

2)  Improve equipment life expectancy.

3)  Reduce failures.

4)  Improve operation and performance.

5)  Increase safety.

Also included with service, our Field Engineer will provide hands-on guidance on the function and operation of the ATS.

This type of service cannot be completed in 1 or 2 hours but can vary between 3 to 8 hours for each ATS.
